Murray Walker

Postby Mike SV on Sat May 12, 2012 3:06 am

I posted a video from 1982 on a race narrated by the legendary Murray Walker with the company of the also legendary James Hunt. And suddenly I became sentimental :emo: and so, I wanted to share with everyone my favorite Murray Walker moment. It's from the 1992 Portuguese Grand Prix on a scary race collision between Gerhard Berger and Riccardo Patrese. Fortunatelly no one got injured from the accident.

What is so great about it is Murray's howl at the moment of the crash. It felt like it he was commentating the Armageddon! :D :hihi:
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I love you Murray! :inlove: And James, hope you're having a blast in heaven! _O_

Murray was also renowned for his commentating gaffs; some of my favourites;

"And Damon Hill is going under the drier part of the Monaco circuit, that's of course because it's got a roof"

Murray: "And Barichello has a good chance to pass Trulli here..." Martin:"Actually, those waved yellow flags will prevent that in this section"

After Montoya expresses his frustration over yet another retirement: "Montoya, chipper and upbeat as usual..."

"There are 7 winners of the monaco grand prix on the starting line today and four of them are Michael Schumacher"

:rotflmao:

I also found this:

We all miss Murray, one of my all time favourites of mine was when he said something along the lines of

"Each one of those cars out there is unique, apart from the identical ones their team mates are driving"

Bless him, he was the best :shiny:

We're not talking like he died! :noway: We're talking about how we miss him in his role as a commentator in F1, he's retired from that, therefore when we discuss it we are using the past tense.
