Justin Wilson RIP

Postby Lyria on Tue Aug 25, 2015 5:39 am

British former F1 driver Justin Wilson who drove for Minardi and then Jaguar, had died as a result of an accident on Sunday whilst driving in the Indy Racing Car League at the Pocono circuit in Pennsylvania. He was driving behind the guy who had the accident and was hit by debris causing a severe head injury before he drove into a wall. He was flown to a nearby hospital where he was in a coma but sadly the injury was so severe he's now died.

My condolences to his family, friends and his team at this terrible time for them. He was only 37.

Great driver... just too tall. It is a real shame. Should we really be considering closed cockpits for formula cars?

Apparently they are considering it, they're even doing tests next month.

Whether they can make them work is a whole other debate though.

According to the Wilson family, after Justin's death they allowed his organs to be donated to others. His brother Stefan has reportedly said that as a result of that six other lives have been saved. That's a selfless gesture, and at least some people some good has come out of this tragic event.
